Agnipath scheme protests

Secunderabad: Thousands of students and army aspirants broke out at Secunderabad Railway station on June 17, 2022 to protest against the Agniveer army recruitment scheme.

The protests left 1 dead, and 14 injured at Secunderabad. Trains were set on fire, railway tracks blocked, and electronic equipment at Secunderabad railway station was destroyed. South Central Railway officials called for an emergency meeting, and an estimate property worth at least Rs 20 crore had been damaged.

The country saw protests of similar nature across 15 other states.
