I am Almaas Masood, a Journalist, Photographer, and Researcher based out of Hyderabad, India. I focus on the relationships among economic and environmental change, human survival, and geopolitical landscapes with an emphasis on conflicts.

I am a self-taught photographer. I did my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Journalism, and Communicative English, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Multimedia Journalism from National School of Journalism, Bengaluru.

I have been a freelance journalist for the past four years with on-ground work experience across four South Indian states namely Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. I have worked with PARI network, Mongabay India, BBC, Reuters among others.

I speak five languages, and multiple dialects. I enjoy learning about cultures through local food, music, and art forms. Lately, I have gravitated towards issues within the maritime domain and coastal communities of India.
